Pen Name Prompt #169

The last prompt looked at Porn.  What a great idea from Sex Land Alice and some fantastic posts linked up. Thank you to all who shared their work. You can find the spotlight posts here…

Prompt #169 Pen Name

A pen name, also called a nom de plume or a literary double, is a pseudonym adopted by an author and printed on the title page or by-line of their works in place of their real name.

There are a few reasons why I choose May More as my Pen Name. Which I will reveal in my own post for this prompt. But I have often wondered about other writers in our community. Why or how did they choose their Pen Name?

So, a few questions to get you thinking…

  • Is your Pen Name in some way similar to your real name?
  • Why did you decide on that particular name?
  • What are the reasons you decided to use a nom de plume rather than your real name?
  • Do you have any other Pen Names? Or do you also write under your actual name?

If you don’t actually use a Pen Name or simply don’t fancy disclosing such personal details why not write a short story using the prompt to inspire you?

If you want to take part and don’t have a blog please contact me and the meme can host your post 😉

Announcement

Announcement ~ Up until now I have used the second prompt of the month to hand over to a new blogger. This gives them a chance to get a feel for running a meme and also a chance to promote their blogs. I am going to widen my reach and include people within the writing community who don’t have a blog, or those who have perhaps taken a break and are returning to blogging. May More.

The next prompt, from the 16th,  will be hosted by Susie Mace and it is another good one – Exposed!

  1. Just saw this… My pen name for the sex world is one part my real name and the other the name I always wished I had been named. For other writing and everything else in life I use my given name.
